The main premise of the game is to be handed cards totaling up to 21. Every player is assigned two cards. When a player is dealt a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they have been dealt a soft hand. When the gambler receives no Ace it is called as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been handed to all players at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, each player is provided the opportunity to make one of six actions:
Taking another card (Hit): When a player says hit me the croupier will deal them another card, if the addition of that card causes the total greater than twenty-one the player will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the total to 21 the black jack player is the winner and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty-one they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a blackjack player is happy with the cards they will hold. Once this has happened the dealer will disclose his/her cards and the blackjack player who has gotten 21 or the nearest to twenty one will win.
Doubling Down: A black jack player might ask to double down which doubles the wager they have placed. As soon as you have taken this action you can only receive 1 additional card. The details of doubling down are normally specified by the table or casino rules so before gambling make sure you are at ease with the house game rules. If you’re gambling at a net betting house this is usually quite simple.
